Finding Cheap Floor Lamps

I thought I should talk to you about finding cheap floor lamps because it can be pretty costly to buy these for your home. It isn't that big of a deal if you're just using it in one room and need one lamp, but often you'll want to light up a lot of rooms and you'll often need more than one. This means that you're going to have to spend a lot of money if you go to stores. There are a lot of other ways on how you can get these lamps really cheap and I'm going to show you where you go.

Yard/Garage Sales

When you go to yard sales or garage sales you're either going to hit or miss. There is a lot of great stuff and a lot of junk you'll see, but often you'll find a lamp that will catch your eyes. Obviously driving around town to all the yard sales can be a bit daunting and time consuming today. I often wait until there is the massive yard sales where an entire street will have one. This is the best way to go. You can spend a few hours and find all sorts of lamps, and lamp shades that you might like.

The fact is that most people will regard this stuff as junk and they're just looking to get rid of it for a few bucks. Since it is only a few dollars you're saving a lot of money. I also find that older people tend to lamps and things for the house. I'm not exactly sure why that is the case, but younger couples are going to still have a lot of the stuff they bought years ago, where as older couples will have bought new stuff and are really trying to get rid of their old floor lamps.

Online Listings

When I'm talking about online listings, I'm talking about Craigslist and Kijiji. If you're unfamiliar, they're just basic sites that have listings for just about every city in the world. You can go check out your local area and see what people have for sale. Often people are moving and don't have time for a yard sale, so they just list on there.

Surprisingly people will be giving their lamps and stuff away. You just have to come and pick it up. It's definitely a resource you'll want to take advantage of. You might actually pay a little more on this type method because if people are listening floor lamps online, than they know that it is at least worth something.

Thrift Stores

It amazes me how many people don't take a look at thrift stores. I'll admit that things move pretty fast there and that is definitely a downside, but things are so cheap that you just can't afford not to take a peak. Things like furniture move pretty fast there because they're just a good buy. The negative aspect of this is that you can't really shop around. You're not going to have the luxury of time to browse all the thrift stores in your town because by the time you get back to a store you're going to find that the lamp was sold.

If you're going to go this route, definitely buy the floor lamp once you see it and like it. There is no time for hesitation of browsing.
