What is an Arc Floor Lamp?

I thought I should talk to you about the arc floor lamp because this is something that a lot of people don't know about. Typically when we have lights in our home, they're going to be on a table or you're going to have them on the ceiling. I suppose that is a fair way to have them and there is nothing wrong with that. The interesting thing is that you can get a lamp that you put on the floor that arcs over in a curve. Take a look at this picture to get a much better idea of what I'm talking about.

As you can see, it sort of looks like a little lamp that you would put on your desk. Don't let that picture fool you because this is a floor lamp and it is very tall. Are you going to actually get much more light this way? I don't know. It isn't something that you use because you're going to get more light or anything like that. This is something that adds a little uniqueness to a room. I've only seen this type of light a few times in my life at other people's places, so you'll definitely stand out with something like this.

This might seem like a relatively simple type of light that you would put in your home, but there is a lot of variety and sizes to choose from. You can get a simple corner lamp that would help you light up a portion of your room. Or you can get an absolute massive one that will arc over a couch and light up a whole living area.

The arc floor lamp has greatly improved since it first came out. Typically it looked just like the picture I had above and there was very little variations in design. The reason is that we just had a basic light bulb to use. Now that we have the power of LEDs and things like this, you can see pretty interesting designs. I have seen a very modern looking one where the actual arc of the lamp is the lighting. I included a picture below for you to look at and see what I'm talking about.

There are some other designs that you might be interested in. You're going to find multiple lights on these lamps now. I've seen both five arm and three arm arc lamps, so you know that you can get a full lighting system for a room. The best part of this type of lamp is that you can move the arms around as you please. If you need light in one area, than you just move an arm for it. It makes things a lot easier than having to move around lamps to light up parts of the room.

This is why I created this site on the arc lamp. There is just so much out there and a lot of variety for you to choose from. It can literally be overwhelming at times, so I needed to help some people out. You can improve the design of your living space by just a few simple floor lamps that look great.
